The Border Gaitherin is back in 2013 and continues to build on its reputation for providing an exceptional family friendly participative traditional music event. Come and enjoy

  -  high quality traditional music workshops
  -  spectacular dance show with 'Absolutely Legless'
  -  concerts with both young and established musicians
  -  'masked' ceilidh - two great ceilidh bands with caller
  -  lively pub sessions, songs & tunes
  -  'Open Stage' Competition, & TURAS Gaelic Singers

Community Cafe - all day
  -  'Session A697' -late night 'cool' tunes & hot soup
  -   'Knit -a Ceilidh'  Create a Ceilidh dance and perform it.

    -   NEW for 2013 - 'Reel-a-thon' - the longest set of reels??

The Border Gaitherin is the major showcase for Borders music and for the immense musical and creative talent which resides here in the Borders. However this year we are pleased to have American guest musicians bringing an Appalachian flavour to the weekend.

'The Border Gaitherin'  tutors and guests provide an exciting and inspirational blend of youth, experience, tremendous skill, all supporting our focus on  'Traditional Futures' and furthering the creative talent of young and old, locals and visitors alike.

Our 2013 tutors and guest performers will  include:-
Lori Watson, Corrina Hewat, Innes Watson,
Christine Kydd, Carly Blain, Nigel Gatherer, Graeme Armstrong, Steve & Ruth Smith, Nancy Schneeloch,  Matt Seattle, The Absolutely Legless Irish Dancers, and more !


Tuition workshops will include :-  Fiddle for all levels, plus advanced fiddle techniques with Innes Watson   l   Guitar  l Harp (instruments provided) l Mandolin (instruments provided) 
 l BodhranBorder Tunes  l Performance Masterclass 
l
   'Surprise Band' l  Harmony Song l Toot Sweet - Flutes in harmony   l
